Playland II

  1. Odd. Weird. Like a flower, or an orifice, that could spring open, triggered by a sunny day. Such spaces (contrivances) seem to exist only in New York. Perches. Roosts. Is it possible to "play" inside such a space without feeling the morbid attention of those restraints?

  2. It looks a bit like a cage and I assume it was used for the obvious open gatherings. Now, with all the hi-tech architecture, it seems a bit bereft.

  3. i see this and the first thing i think of is an exercise yard for a jail, but since i don't think there is a jail or juvenile detention center in dumbo i can only guess it's a recess yard for a daycare or school? i can't imagine a residential or commercial building creating such an overly protective outdoor space for it's occupants. in that case i'd think it'd be just a regular fence.
